The objective of the River Vale Fire Prevention Bureau is to ensure all commercial buildings are in compliance with the Uniform Fire Code, State of New Jersey Fire Code, and the International Fire Code.
The River Vale Fire Prevention Bureau is made up of the sworn fire inspectors of the town headed by the Fire Marshal. Each fire inspector has received and passed extensive education and training in fire prevention before being certified by the State of New Jersey for active work as a fire inspector. The Inspectors will inspect schools, businesses, and places of assemblies in River Vale for New Jersey Code compliance.
The River Vale Fire Prevention Bureau also inspects all homes, condominiums and townhouses for sale or rent/lease to ensure smoke detectors/alarms, carbon monoxide detectors/alarms and fire extinguishers are installed as required by the Uniform Fire Code before the closing or new occupancy.
The River Vale Fire Prevention Bureau is an active educator for the public about fire safety throughout the year, highlighted with our annual visit to the elementary and nursery schools in town. We also partner with the River Vale Fire Department each year to bring to the town a night of fire education with the “Open House” held at the RVFD South fire house.
